The ministry Volino founded, now called Providence Place, continues to handle adoptions and provides job training to young adults with disabilities. It went by various names in the earlier years, and over time shifted from a rescue mission for young women leaving prostitution to a place where young women pregnant out of wedlock come come to have their babies and put them up for adoption. When Mary "Madam" Volino underwent her conversion to Christianity in 1895, she turned her San Antonio, Texas, brothel into a Methodist mission. It still arranges adoptions but also works with young people with disabilities. The ministry goes on, in a different location, as Providence Place. Later it would be a place for young women pregnant out of wedlock to give birth, with the ministry arranging adoptions. With Volino’s conversion to Christianity in 1895, the brothel would become a Methodist rescue home for young women in prostitution.
